To keep your IICRC certifications valid and your industry knowledge current, Continuing Education Credits (CECs) play an essential role…
Understanding CECs: The Basics
If you’re IICRC certified, maintaining your certification involves two key steps:
-
Annual Renewal Fee:
Each year, a renewal invoice is generated in your IICRC account. It’s important to pay this promptly to avoid lapses in certification. -
Continuing Education Credits (CECs):
Over a four-year period, you must complete and submit 14 hours of CECs to the IICRC. These credits show you’re actively staying updated with evolving standards, technology, and practices in the cleaning and restoration industry.
Good news — you don’t need to re-sit your original IICRC exam to earn CECs. If you attend an IICRC course for which you’re already certified, it still counts toward your CECs. You can also earn credits through 1-day approved industry events, such as PestNetwork Seminars or CSL’s Foundation Courses.
???? All delivered by Cleaning Systems Ltd qualifies for 14 CEC hours, except the Odour Control Technician (OCT) course, which provides 7 hours.
Why CECs Matter for Technicians
CECs aren’t just about compliance — they’re a smart investment in your career. By engaging in continued education, you’ll:
-
Stay current with emerging techniques, tools, and regulations
-
Expand your skillset and industry knowledge
-
Build professional confidence
-
Stay compliant with IICRC standards
-
Create networking opportunities that can lead to new business or employment
In short, CECs help you stay sharp, relevant, and employable.
