Also known as crime and trauma scene cleaning decontamination – this is a niche market within the cleaning industry.  It involves the clean-up of hazardous material, specifically the biologically contaminated scene of a death (sometimes violent death, such as homicide or suicide) or serious accident.

This foundation course is designed to teach trainees how to carry out hazardous environment cleaning work in a professional manner and in compliance with best industry practice.  The course has full coverage of this work, from risk analysis and health and safety to proper methodology and risk mitigation.

This course refers to:

  • Health & Safety at Work (Hazardous Substances) Regulations 2017;
  • Crimes Act 1961; and
  • ANSI/IICRC S540 Standard for Trauma and Crime Scene Clean Up.

It should be noted that this course deals with matters that may be upsetting to some individuals.  Whilst efforts are made to address religious or cultural matters of importance (for example Tapu or Maori Tanga), instructors and any course materials are not expressed to be an expert or qualified analysis of these concepts.  We endeavour to conduct any discussion of these concepts or matters with the utmost respect and professionalism.
