This Prerequisite Foundation Course establishes the core competencies and hands-on practical skills essential for new Urban Pest Management (UPM) technicians. Training covers fundamental principles, safety protocols, use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), operation of application equipment, and practical simulations of common pest scenarios.

Mandatory Equipment Requirement

Attendance requires the prior procurement of a mandatory equipment starter pack. This pack must include: PPE (full-face mask, gloves, overalls, etc.), a sprayer, and two bait stations.

• The discounted course fee of $650 + GST is exclusively available when the starter pack is purchased through Cleaning Systems Ltd (CSL).

Enrolment and Prerequisite Status

This course serves as a formal prerequisite for enrollment in the NZQA Certificate in Pest Operations Level 3 – Urban Pest Management (UPM L3) for candidates who lack an approved mentor or observer.

Who can be an observer?

• If you are employed by a pest control company, your workplace manager or another qualified technician can act as your observer.
• If you are a sole trader without industry contacts, you may engage one of our recommended independent observers to complete your assessments.
